The pods have made their way into government offices, businesses and colleges.

A Limerick-based company is making waves in workplaces by installing ‘privacy pods’ to entice staff back into offices.

The soundproof booths by the Hunt Office have surged in sales this year as employees seek pockets of calm in their workplace settings.

Based in Newcastle West and founded by brothers Séamus and John Hunt, the company has been operating since 1999.

The pods range from single-person telephone booths to 12-person meeting spaces equipped with integrated Zoom and AV technology.

Speaking on Live 95’s Limerick Today, Rose Doyle, General Manager of Newcastle West-based Hunt Office, revealed that the company has seen a 30% surge in inquiries for privacy pods this year alone.

“Open plan offices are great, but when you have different job functions in one space, it can get overwhelming and distracting,” Doyle said.

She noted that while employees often do their deep, focused work at home, they still require “focus spaces” and “collaboration zones” when they head into the city.

The company is a homegrown success story linked to the Hunt family of Newcastle West.

As the “return to office” push continues, it seems the future of work isn’t just about where we work, but the specialised pods we sit in to get the job done.

Looking ahead, Seamus Hunt believes offices will become even more adaptable and technology-driven.

“AI-powered space management, modular layouts, sustainable materials and workplaces built around employee experience are the future. Many businesses don’t have the time or expertise to manage this transformation; that’s where we come in. We remove the complexity and risk and deliver workplaces that truly work.”
