Emmerdale spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (10 April), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.

Joe Tate’s antics have finally caught up with him as he is exposed on Emmerdale, with Dawn Fletcher being disgusted with her partner when his manipulative behaviour comes to light at Home Farm.

For the past few months, Joe has been scheming to bring down the Sugdens and Dingles via the purchase of Butler’s Farm, and gained knowledge that Victoria was the one who killed John.

He has attempted to use this as leverage in controlling Robert, but the latter took a stand in Thursday’s (9 April) episode as he asked Ross Barton, the Director of Operations at Home Farm, if he would take down Joe with him.

In today’s instalment of the ITV soap, Ross enacts the first step of the plan by acquiring Joe’s phone. He spills coffee all over it, which in theory gives him and Robert enough time to check it before Joe returns home – except that it stops working.

The pair attempts to access Joe’s laptop, but have trouble figuring out the password. Despite Ross telling him to hurry, Robert is caught in the act by Dawn, who immediately demands to know what’s going on.

Robert explains that Joe possesses a video of Victoria killing John in self-defence, and Dawn is horrified when she views the clip. When Joe returns home, Dawn confronts him and orders him to tell all.

He admits that he thought the video could come “in handy”, but Dawn is furious at Joe’s inaction during the situation. She hastily deletes the video, and confesses that she’s now having trouble at the thought of marrying Joe.

Elsewhere, Ross demands that Robert pays him the £2,000 via a re-enactment of a scene from Jerry Maguire, though Robert doesn’t see the funny side. He has to explain the situation to Aaron, including how he’s responsible for Moira being sent down.

Aaron criticises him for his behaviour, and leaves in a hurry. Robert is informed by Dawn that the videos have been deleted, but Aaron admits he’s prioritising Moira’s freedom over his relationship with Robert.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
