RTÉ sports presenter Valerie Wheeler has confirmed she is expecting her first child with husband Gavin Young.
The happy news comes seven months on from the couple’s dream wedding in Portugal.
The Sunday Game host and her husband, announced their baby news by saying this is a ‘new chapter we’ve been dreaming of.’
Posting a snap of themselves in the Maldives, during their honeymoon, the soon-to-be mum-and-dad shared beaming smiles as they hold up their scan photos.
In front of them in the sand, the couple, wrote out ‘baby Young 2026’.

It is the first child for the couple who said “I do” in a sun-drenched ceremony in Portugal last year.
Joking she had found her ‘forever caddy’, Valerie shared a glimpse inside the couple’s stunning destination wedding on social media last year.
Her long-term partner Gavin Young popped the question while the couple enjoyed a romantic holiday in New York last year.
Gavin popped the question on top of the Rockefeller Center, where Valerie shared a snap of her sparkling ring with the caption: “A rock on top of the rock. 03-01-2024.”
Valerie and Gavin have been together since the summer of 2022.
Valerie Wheeler joined RTE as a sports reporter in October 2020.
She is well known to sports fans for her coverage on The Sunday Game and as a presenter on SPIN Southwest, while Gavin works as a professional golf coach in Limerick.
