A Dublin based YouTuber known as Paul_IsItWorthIt drove three hours to Cork to continue his hunt for the country’s best roast dinner, but things did not go to plan

A food critic who has journeyed across Ireland in search of the nation’s finest roast dinner made his way back to Cork — but his three-hour drive from Dublin didn’t quite go to plan.
The content creator, known online as Paul_IsItWorthIt, had previously visited Murphy’s Rock Bar in Ballincollig — where he awarded it an impressive 7.7 out of 10.
He recently made his return to the Rebel County after his comments section was inundated with recommendations to visit The Elm Tree Glounthaune. Unfortunately, he discovered it was shut for a funeral on the day of his visit, so he opted to try The Wilton Pub and Restaurant instead — and his initial impressions were promising.
“The hunt for the best roast dinner in Ireland continues, today we are at The Wilton,” Paul declared at the outset of his video, before adding: “The service has been fantastic so far. I love the words they use in Cork — they got like love, honey.”

Before diving into his food review, Paul remarked: “Just a little on this place. This place, it looks so old school. There’s such cool things here like a Cornflakes box there. You’ve got a U2 guitar that’s signed beside us here on the walls. As a pub to come to, it’s so cool.”
Cameraman John later chipped in: “I’m like a broken record, but it does look like a top spot when a match is on.”
However, with a reputation as “Ireland’s most honest food reviewer”, Paul’s visit was primarily focused on the roast dinner itself.
When his beef arrived, he declared it looked “unreal” and the gravy appeared to be of outstanding quality. Regarding the latter, he remarked: “The gravy is phenomenal. The mash is delicious. The gravy is smooth and silky. Beautiful mash. The gravy is 100% cooked with the juices off the meat, 100%.”
While impressed by the mash and gravy, he expressed disappointment with the meat and roast potatoes, noting the vegetables were too firm for his liking.

During the meal, however, he commented: “We do love Cork, don’t we?”
Cameraman John confirmed they had visited some excellent food establishments in Cork before Paul proclaimed it the “food capital of Ireland”.
On this visit, Paul was unable to complete his meal, stating “it’s not impressing me”, and he shared his thoughts outside after settling the bill.
Reflecting on the costs, he observed: “The roast beef dinner is €19.99 and for two Lucozades it is €8.40. It is €4.20 for a Lucozade? Jesus man, it is so expensive for soft drinks in pubs.”
He continued: “The price, €19.99 for a roast dinner? That’s expensive. I’m giving it four out of 10 for the price.”

Regarding the service, though, he said: “Shoutout to Lisa in there, our server, she was the best part of our experience, 100%. Lovely woman.
“The experience I’m giving a nine out of 10, simply for Lisa, and then the pub is actually really cool.”
However, he awarded a lower rating concerning the food’s taste, claiming the roast potatoes were too hard and the beef was dry. However, he added: “We are here at three-o-clock. I need to stress again. Maybe this is fantastic a few hours earlier.”
That said, Paul, who also made his feelings known about the word floored in his video, which you can watch in full here, awarded it a total score of 5.3 out of 10.
