The body of a man in his 60s has been recovered off Arranmore Island.

Gardaí confirmed they assisted the local coastguard in a search and recovery operation near the island yesterday.

The body of a male was recovered yesterday shortly after 4:00pm.

The body has since been removed to the mortuary in Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Investigations are ongoing.

However, Donegal Daily understands that foul play is not suspected.
