Judge rejects insurer’s bid to reclaim bond tied to former-billionaire’s Louth energy venture

Liberty Insurance has lost its €4.45m claim against Eirgrid over money it paid out on a bond related to a massive gas power plant proposed by former billionaire Sean Quinn.
The insurance giant, which bought up the assets of Quinn Insurance in 2011, had taken the legal challenge against the State’s electricity grid operator.
