A Wicklow contractor who took part in the recent fuel protests has said the Government’s newly announced package will make “absolutely no difference” to his business, warning that rising diesel and material costs continue to make it impossible to operate or even quote for work.
More ominously, he said he hasn’t built a foundation for a house “in a long time” and believes the construction industry faces a significant downturn as a result of the crisis.
