A father and two children were rushed to hospital on Wednesday morning, after being struck by a car while crossing the road in peak school traffic.
The man and two young girls were making their way to a nearby primary school when they were struck by a car just outside O’Shea, Bramley, Breen veterinary centre on the junction of Distillery Road and The Fairways.

Passers-by came to the assistance of the man and his children, who sat into a car while awaiting the arrival of gardaà and ambulance a couple of minutes later.
Gardaà took statements from the driver and eye-witnesses at the scene and the man and two children were taken to Wexford General Hospital for further treatment. Their injuries are understood to have been minor and they were only brought to hospital as a precaution.

Distillery Road Junction
The busy junction of Distillery Road and The Fairways has been earmarked for a new layout for quite some time now. Plans to install a roundabout to improve traffic flow have been mooted for years, while almost exactly a year ago, further elements of the plan were put to public consultation, including pedestrian crossings.
These works have still to come to fruition, despite a clear appetite locally for the plans to progress. Last November, a woman was knocked from her motorbike at the same junction during lunchtime traffic.
