Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly took to X on Saturday evening with some exciting news as he shared that Ireland was to be ‘one of the driest spots in Europe over the next 10 days.’

It came as the weather expert also warned that the week ahead would be best described as ‘”jumper on, jumper off” weather.’

It’s a welcome relief following a winter of torrential rain and plenty of wind.

Sunday night will see a ‘relatively cold night’ with long clear spells, and just some mist and fog patches. Coldest conditions are expected for Leinster and Ulster.

Monday is looking to be another mostly dry day with ‘just the odd light shower’ while night-time will continue dry with a few isolated showers.

Sunny spells and the occasional shower will continue into Tuesday, which the forecaster notes will be a breezier day to start with.

Likewise, Wednesday will be breezy but dry for most, with temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Thursday has a similar outlook with temperatures potentially even increasing to 16 or 17 degrees.

Met Éireann said Friday will be mostly dry, giving way to plenty of sunshine and temperatures hitting the high teens for the weekend.
