Owen Elding’s dream of playing for Ireland has been hit by some obstacles along the way. But just when the Hibernian striker thought he was about to clear the final hurdle, he encountered more frustration.
The saga of the availability and eligibility of the English-born, Irish-raised and now Scottish-based striker is a long and winding one. And while the FAI are desperate to get Elding into the fold so he can wear green as his national colour as well as his club shirt, it’s complicated.
