Bord na Móna (BnM) looks to be primed to become the major player in a potential radical transformation of swathes of the midlands under policies being drawn up to combine windfarms, data centres and manufacturing facilities in so-called ‘energy-parks’.

Tens of thousands of acres of state-owned bogland in the midlands and west of the country currently managed by the State’s one-time turf-harvesting arm are now prime areas for potential development, an investigation by the Sunday Independent can reveal.
