Freddie Woodman is expected to continue in goal for Liverpool after the club received a prognosis on the injured Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian keeper was stretchered off during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Everton in the Merseyside Derby but has not suffered a serious injury.
Mamardashvili has deputised regularly for first-choice keeper Alisson this season, but was himself injured at Hill Dickinson Stadium. He suffered a knee injury while colliding with Beto as the Everton striker slid in to make it 1-1.
He was taken to hospital as third-choice keeper Woodman stepped in to make his Premier League debut. Mamardashvili has since been released from hospital and reassured fans with an Instagram post on Monday.
“Thank God everything is fine,” he wrote. “Thank you all so much for your support and for being by my side. I’ll be back soon.”

The Athletic reports that he has a deep wound on his knee and is expected to be sidelined for between two and four weeks. Alisson is still out with a hamstring injury and that means Woodman will start for Liverpool when they host Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
Woodman joined the Reds from Preston in the summer and had only previously featured once this season, in the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat by Palace on October 29. Having made his first league appearance on Sunday, the 29-year-old could now start the next two games, against Palace and Manchester United, on May 3.
That will depend on the speed of Mamardashvili’s recovery and the progress of Alisson, who is targeting that United game for his comeback. The Brazilian has struggled with injuries this season, only making 34 appearances, and has been out since the 4-0 win over Galatasaray on March 18.

“Is there anything that surprises you when it comes to injuries with us this season?” Slot said on Sunday when asked about Mamardashvili being forced off.
“Maybe I already envisaged it because I had two goalkeepers on the bench today, which I normally don’t have but, of course, it has everything to do with the availability of all the other positions.
“Giorgi had to go to hospital with a big wound, so let’s see how he will be. Freddie deserves a lot of credit — coming in just after conceding at 1-1 and their fans were ready for it but he did his job really well.”
Liverpool are solely focused on the Premier League after exiting the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain last week. Virgil van Dijk’s injury-time header ensured they claim bragging rights and three points on Sunday in the race for Champions League qualification.
Slot’s side sit fifth in the Premier League table, seven points ahead of Chelsea, who have now lost four in succession.
