Highs of 21C are forecast on Friday
Ireland is set to bask in better weather than the Canary Islands over the coming days, with the Spanish archipelago experiencing cooler conditions and more rain than usual for this time of year.
Following an unsettled winter and beginning to spring, the weather in Ireland took a welcome turn for the positive last weekend and high pressure is expected to dominate for the rest of the week.
Met Eireann has forecast highs of 21C this coming Friday, with the west of the country enjoying the best of the weather. Meanwhile, those who have booked early holidays to the Canary Islands will be left disappointed as conditions take a turn for the worse.
Irish weather expert Alan O’Reilly, who mans the ever-popular @CarlowWeather account on X, has revealed that “the Canaries have cooled down and some parts of the Islands could see more rain than Ireland over the next 5 days.”
Today, Tuesday April 21, will have a breezy start but it will remain dry for most areas with spells of sunshine but it will be somewhat cloudier in the northwest, with the potential for a few passing showers. Temperatures will range between 10C and 14C.
Met Eireann anticipates that Wednesday will be a similar day, though Munster may become somewhat cloudier and it will continue to be breezy with brisk, easterly winds.
From Thursday, temperatures will begin to increase dramatically, with highs of 18C forecast and it will feel noticeably warmer as breezy conditions depart, giving way to a dry and sunny day.
Friday looks like it may be the best day of the year so far as temperatures soar to highs of 21C, according to the national forecaster, and while the west will enjoy the warmest conditions, much of the whole country will enjoy a dry, fine, sunny day leading into the weekend.
