Every now and then television and radio bring forth personalities who find a place in the hearts of the audience, to the extent that they come to be regarded as national treasures.
Some achieve that status through natural charm, good humour and sheer likeability. I’ve never met anyone, for instance, who had a single negative thing to say about Larry Gogan, who died in 2020 and whose humility and obvious joy in what he did endeared him to multiple generations.
