The plan sets out how the organisation will expand the delivery of secure, affordable homes
Focus Ireland today launched its new Joint Strategic Plan 2026 to 2030, Turning the Tide on Homelessness.
It comes as there was a record 17,308 people in emergency accommodation in February, including almost 5,500 children, an overall figure that has risen from 8,313 in 2021.
The strategy focuses on family homelessness, single people or couples without children, youth homelessness, prevention and economic homelessness and sustainability.
Focus Ireland and Focus Housing plan to acquire or construct 1,000 additional homes over the next five years.
They also aim to support 1,930 households out of homelessness into secure new tenancies.
Focus Ireland CEO Pat Dennigan said that homelessness figures will only fall “if Government matches that effort”.
