Irish fashion retailer Born Clothing is preparing to close all of its stores across Ireland. At its peak, the popular high street chain shop had over 20 locations across the country, including three in Cork.
The three stores in Cork included a prominent unit at Merchant’s Quay Shopping Centre in the city centre, Wilton Shopping Centre and Douglas Village Shopping Centre. The well-known chain, which stocked clothing from a wide range of brands, including occasion wear.
There are currently 15 Born Clothing stores operating nationwide, and all will kick off their closing-down sale tomorrow (Thursday), with discounts of up to 70%. Born Clothing announced in an Instagram post. “After 16 wonderful years in business, it’s time for us to say goodbye,” they said.
“We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support over the years – for shopping with us, supporting us, and being part of our journey. It has meant more than we can ever put into words.”
The retailer also took the opportunity to pay tribute to its dedicated staff members. It said: “To our wonderful team, thank you for being the heart and soul of our business. Your loyalty and dedication will always be appreciated.”

Born Clothing confirmed that its closing-down sale will get underway tomorrow (Thursday), with up to 70% off all items, RSVP Live reported. The Currency has reported that provisional liquidators were appointed to the companies behind Born Clothing, following “several years of sustained losses.”
A notice on the Born Clothing website confirms the company is in provisional liquidation, and as a result, gift vouchers will not be accepted. The notice confirms that any items purchased during the liquidation sale will be covered by a 30-day refund or return policy, provided there is a valid reason, and the customer can produce a legitimate liquidation sales receipt.
“As the company is in provisional liquidation, please note the following: no gift vouchers can be accepted during the liquidation sale, no returns of stock bought before the liquidation can be refunded, no credit note provided by the store before the liquidation can be accepted,” the notice reads.
“Claims for refunds/return of stock/credit notes rank as unsecured claims in the liquidation. To submit a claim to the liquidation, please contact bornclothing@bdo.ie for further details.
“All Liquidation Sales allow for a 30 day refund/return policy in store, with reason and accompanying valid liquidation sale customer receipt. Any additional statuary rights remain unaffected.
“If the relevant store has closed, please contact bornclothing@bdo.ie for further details on how to seek a refund.”
