Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (These Sacred Vows) and Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus) are filming a new thriller, Silverback, in Dublin and Meath.

The feature debut of writer-director Steve Kenny, Silverback is produced by the Dublin-based Forty Foot Pictures with support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland in association with the UK’s Bankside Films and Viewfinder Film.

The synopsis for Silverback reads: “When architect turned stay-at-home dad Rob (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) meets his new next-door neighbour – the notorious criminal Terry (Jason Isaacs) – the two quickly become friends.

“The aura Terry exudes speaks to something Rob fears he has lost, while in Rob, Terry finds a fellow father to confide in – a man whose ordinary, decent life he admires.

“However, it isn’t long before the menace of Terry’s world comes calling on their sedate suburban existence.”

Writer-director Kenny said: “With production up and running, it’s been incredibly exciting to see our story move from the page to the screen.

“At its heart, Silverback explores the power dynamics of male friendship, the responsibility of fatherhood, and our capacity for violence.

“Tom and Jason are two extraordinary actors perfectly suited to bringing these primal concerns to life.

“Their performances are the centrepiece of our film.”
