Liverpool will face Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after progressing to the last 16 with a win over Southampton.

There are only 16 clubs left in the competition after the completion of the third round, with Liverpool progressing thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

Wednesday’s draw saw Arne Slot‘s side pitted against Palace, with the tie to be played at Anfield.

Liverpool meet Palace in the Premier League on Saturday and have already met in the Community Shield this season – and a Marc Guehi appearance at Anfield will dominate the pre-match narratives.

This is the seventh season in a row that Liverpool have reached this stage of the competition, they have progressed to the final in the last two seasons.

When is the match?

The fixture will take place on either October 28 or 29, to be confirmed at a later date, with the midweek match preceding another important run of games.

The cup tie lands either side of an away trip to Brentford and the visit of Aston Villa in the Premier League, which are both sandwiched by Champions League games.

Slot embraced rotation in the third round and will be expected to so again, even if he was left disappointed by a “few individual performances” against Southampton.

Liverpool have won the competition more times than any other side, notching their 10th triumph in Jurgen Klopp‘s final season. Will Slot’s men return to Wembley in 2026?
