A man stands inside a Centra shop in Dublin brandishing what appears to be a knife.
An altercation involving a man allegedly brandishing a knife and members of the public unfolded in Dublin this afternoon.
It is unclear how the incident started but video footage shared on social media shows a man armed, with what appears to be a knife, standing in the doorway of a Centra shop in the Marlborough Street area.
There is blood coming from the left side of the man’s head as he stands with what is believed to be a knife in his right hand.
A member of the public can be seen approaching the man from the street and throws what looks like a shop sign at him.
Another man can be heard shouting at the man who remains inside the shop. The man attempts to show the man in the street blood coming from his right hand.

Gardai arrive at the scene.
The video then jumps to gardai arriving at the scene.
An officer dressed all in black can be heard approaching the man shouting “armed gardai, armed gardai” and then the video ends.
When contacted by The Irish Mirror a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that a man had been arrested at the scene of the incident.
“Gardaí received report of an alleged incident involving a person in possession of a knife in the Marlborough Street area of Dublin this afternoon, Friday 24th April 2026,” the spokesperson said.
“Gardaí attended and arrested the man (20s). He is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin region,” the spokesperson added.
