Michael, a biopic about the career of arguably the world’s most famous entertainer, is expected to be the top-grossing film in theaters this weekend, despite poor reviews and a legal setback that forced the filmmakers to leave out some of the most controversial aspects of Michael Jackson’s life.

Distributed by Lionsgate Studios Corp., Michael is projected to take in at least $65 million in US and Canadian theaters, according to industry tracker Boxoffice Pro. Receipts internationally, where it’s distributed by Comcast Corp.’s Universal Pictures, could bring the total to more than double that number.
