Unions warn overcrowding in emergency departments causing surge in assaults

Violent incidents against health staff caused eight workers to suffer significant injuries or other serious effects in the last two years, as more than 12,500 attacks were reported, it has emerged.
The figures from the HSE come in the wake of revelations of a surge in violence against staff at the Mater Hospital in Dublin, leading some to quit rather than endure the safety threat.
