Jordan Hewson, who is the eldest daughter of U2 front man Bono, has released her debut single under her stage name of Jordan Joy.
Don’t Kill the Vibe follows her previous work as Tenderhooks and the new track has been hailed by R.E.M. front man Michael Stipe as the ‘the song of the summer,’ while it has also been praised by Julian Lennon, son of late Beatle John, models Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington, and actress Jesscia Alba.
36-year-old Jordan, who is a graduate in political science from Columbia University, said she hoped the song captured “indie New York”, and added that she planned to release more music.
In an Instagram post, she said, “Excited to share this song . . . Don’t Kill the Vibe is one for the kitchen party. I wanted the sound to bring me back to indie New York, and what I was listening to when I lived there.
“Thank you @cjmarks and @daywave for working on it with me, and to my friends for encouraging me to put it out 🤍 Photo by my sis @graciebrns! More to come.”

She previously released three songs as Tenderhooks – 2023’s Enemy, 2024’s Anything You Felt, and Summer Driving Fast/Summer Driving Fast (Sunrise Remix).
In 2016, Hewson founded Speakable, a tech company aimed at promoting social activism and landed a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2019.
Jordan’s brother Elijah is the front man of Dublin band Inhaler, who released their third album last year. Her actress sister Eve sang several songs, including High Life and Meet in the Middle, for the 2023 musical film Flora and Son.

Their youngest brother John starred in RTÉ series These Sacred Vows opposite Love/Hate’s Tom Vaughan-Lawlor earlier this year and will also appear in the upcoming film Finnegan’s Foursome.
Don’t Kill the Vibe comes after a flurry of activity from U2. Over the past few months they have released two well-received new EPs, Days of Ash and Easter Lily, their first new music in eight years, with plans for a new studio album to be released possibly later this year.
