West Englewood Avenue in Teaneck has long been a reliable stretch for kosher meat dining, with Chickie’s, Chopstix, and Dougie’s BBQ all holding down the block for years. Now there’s a new addition to the neighborhood’s kosher dining scene: Middle Feast, a modern Middle Eastern concept billing itself as “Shawarma+” that just opened at the address formerly occupied by Yalla Teaneck.

The Concept

Middle Feast is positioning itself as something beyond your standard shawarma window. The “Shawarma+” tagline signals a menu anchored in classic Middle Eastern fare but with a more contemporary approach to flavors and presentation. The vibe coming through on their Instagram is polished and intentional, with the kind of visual branding that suggests the team behind this put some thought into what they were building.

The restaurant comes from the same ownership as J Express (Jerusalem Express) in Englewood, the RCBC-certified kosher pizza spot that has built a loyal following just down the road. If you’ve been to J Express and appreciated the operation there, you’ll recognize the same sensibility here: tight execution, good branding, and a clear focus on what they do. They’re set up for both dine-in and online ordering through their website, making it easy to grab a meal whether you’re sitting down or swinging by for takeout.

What to Expect on the Menu

The soft opening menu is tight and focused, which is exactly how it should be.

On the shawarma side, you’ve got chicken, ribeye, and schnitzel, each available in pita, laffa, or as a plate, with fries as an add-on. Ribeye shawarma in a laffa runs $22, which is fair for Bergen County.

The plates section adds pargiyot ($23), kabob ($25), falafel pita ($15), a grilled chicken Caesar salad ($18), and the Mr. Feast Burger, which comes with fries for $18. Sauces are where the personality comes through: tehina, amba, garlic mayo, spicy mayo, sweet chili, Finger Lick’n, and BBQ. The kind of lineup that tells you they thought about this.

For anyone familiar with the West Englewood Ave strip, Middle Feast is steps from longtime Teaneck institutions and right in the middle of one of the most walkable kosher dining corridors in Bergen County.
