Ireland’s biggest singles event is set to return in style as the Punchestown Festival 2026 prepares to welcome more than 130,000 people across five days of racing, entertainment and socialising.

Running from Tuesday, April 28 to Saturday, May 2, organisers promising their most ambitious programme yet.

With favourable weather forecast and strong advance ticket sales, this year’s event is expected to surpass previous attendance records. A total of 40 races will be staged, with a prize fund of €3.6 million attracting leading Irish and British competitors.

Punchestown CEO Conor O’Neill said the festival now plays a major role in Ireland’s economy and tourism sector.

“World class championship sport remains at the heart of what we do and alongside this our strategy is to enhance, elevate, and excel in an extremely competitive leisure and entertainment market,” he said. “The Punchestown Festival is big business, has a huge economic impact of over €70 million, boosts tourism by filling every hotel room in the region and attracts international interest from as far as the USA and Australia.”

Alongside the racing, organisers say the event has evolved into a flagship entertainment experience, featuring live music, fashion competitions, food and beverage offerings and large-scale corporate hospitality.

“I’m delighted to say that our hospitality is totally sold out midweek despite expanding capacity by 2,500 seats and introducing the new Horse Walk venue. Saturday has a handful of seats left,” Mr O’Neill added.

One of the biggest draws this year will be the “Your Friend My Friend” Saturday Pavilion, billed as Ireland’s largest singles event.

It forms part of a broader expansion that includes the new Kildare Village Grand Pavilion, enhanced family zones and multiple new entertainment stages.

The popular Southern Enclosure will again host the Sky Bar After Party, live music and the Bollinger Best Dressed competition, while more than 24,000 corporate guests from 800 companies are expected to attend across the week.

Transport planning is also a key focus, with organisers urging racegoers to use public transport, particularly on the busy Friday programme. Additional shuttle and regional bus services have been added.

With over 60 British-trained horses expected to compete and championship titles on the line, anticipation is building for what many see as a defining event in Ireland’s social calendar.

Blending elite sport with large-scale entertainment reminiscent of the Oxegen Festival era, Punchestown 2026 is poised to deliver one of its biggest editions yet.
