Students at St. Clement’s College in Limerick have completed a workplace readiness programme with a local firm
Fifth-year students at St. Clement’s College have completed a “Towards Your Future” programme in partnership with Limerick-based manufacturer Modulacc.
The hands-on initiative was designed by Business In The Community Ireland to help senior cycle students in DEIS schools strengthen their workplace readiness and soft skills.
Over several weeks, the students swapped the classroom for the boardroom, visiting one of Modulacc’s two city-centre manufacturing facilities.
The company, which specialises in 3D volumetric modular buildings and portable units, gave the teenagers a look at the entire operation, from design and procurement to construction and health and safety.
St. Clement’s teacher Robert Browne said the experience has been transformative for the group, “Our fifth-years really enjoyed the programme. Modulacc have been incredibly supportive and generous with their time, providing our students with real insights into the working world,” he said. “They’ve come away from the experience with new skills and more confidence.”
A major highlight of the scheme was a mock interview session.
Students had to review real-world roles at the company, apply for the positions that interested them, and undergo formal interviews at the Modulacc offices.
Modulacc Managing Director, Colin McNamara, praised the standard of the local students, noting that their engagement and preparation were “a credit to their school.”
The programme wrapped up this week with a ceremony where students were awarded certificates for completing their professional development workshops.
