Star-studded adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel brings grief, secrets and luxury escapism to UK screens
Sky has confirmed that glossy new drama The Five Star Weekend will air exclusively in the UK and Ireland this July on Sky and streaming service NOW.
Based on the bestselling novel by Elin Hilderbrand, the sun-soaked series is led by Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a celebrity cook and author whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after a devastating personal loss.
Garner heads an ensemble cast that includes D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny and Timothy Olyphant, alongside a supporting line-up featuring Judy Greer and Rob Huebel.
The drama follows Hollis as she grapples with grief that exposes cracks in her carefully curated life — from a strained marriage to a complicated relationship with her daughter and an increasing reliance on public validation. In a bid to move forward, she hosts a getaway at her Nantucket home, inviting close friends from different chapters of her life. What begins as a healing retreat soon evolves into a weekend of revelations, shifting loyalties and long-buried secrets.
Set against a luxurious coastal backdrop, the series blends emotional drama with escapist glamour, as its characters confront their pasts and redefine their futures.
Lucy Criddle, Director of Acquisitions and Strategic Projects at Sky, described the show as a “glossy, character-led drama” and a strong addition to the broadcaster’s summer slate, highlighting its high-profile cast and bestselling origins.
