After a remarkable 27 seasons in senior football in England, veteran Irish goalkeeper Joe Murphy admits it’s time to hang up his gloves.
The Dubliner rejoined his first senior club, Tranmere Rovers, in 2020 and while his main role was as a goalkeeper coach, he was leaned on to play for the first team. He made 22 appearances for League Two Tranmere this season, playing his last game in March at the age of 44.
