WWE will take Wrestlemania outside of the United States for the first time next year, paving the way for future International events.

Ireland is known for being one of the top sports and entertainment destinations in the world.
The top teams in rugby come to Dublin each November, the biggest musical artists in the world sell-out the 3Arena and the likes of Thomond Park each Summer. The NFL has staged a game at Croke Park, Manchester United return to that same venue this Summer, and if things go well Katie Taylor will retire in Ireland on one of the biggest boxing cards of the year.
Kilkenny councillor Maurice Shortall believes Ireland should take things one step forward and look into the prospect of hosting the biggest spectacle in Wrestling. That’s right, Wrestlemania!
The WWE’s annual spectacular will leave the United States for the first time in 2027 when it is hosted in Saudi Arabia, opening the door for the prospect of the “Grandaddy of them all” to be staged internationally in years to come.

Councillor Shortall believes Ireland would be an excellent venue for Wrestlemania, and intends to bring his suggestion to the government.
“As a globally recognised event with the capacity to attract tens of thousands of international visitors and generate substantial international media exposure, WrestleMania presents a significant opportunity for Ireland to strengthen its position as a leading destination for major event tourism.”
Mr Shortall thinks the event would have huge benefits for all of Ireland.
“The wider regional benefit to counties such as Kilkenny would be substantial, with strong potential for tourism spillover, increased domestic travel, and enhanced international visibility for Ireland’s secondary tourism destinations.

“Ireland is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination.”
Should Wrestlemania come to Ireland, it will almost certainly be held in Dublin. The event is typically staged in stadiums with a capacity of more than 70,000, making Croke Park the most likely venue.
Ireland could face strong competition as London is often cited as a dream destination for Wrestling fans. Wembley Stadium has hosted AEW All-In on numerous occasions, proving that there is both a desire for Wrestling in London, and proving that International fans are more than happy to travel to the British capital.
