West Mayo community in 'disbelief' following sudden death - Ireland News Beep

A West Mayo community has been left in ‘disbelief’ after hearing of the sudden death of a father of two in his home on Thursday.

The parish of Aughagower outside Westport was left in shock after the sudden death of Shane Heraty of Rockfied, Sheeaune, Westport. The father of two who was from a well-known family in the west Mayo community died suddenly in his home on Thursday.

A former road bowler, the Aughagower Road Bowling Club were among those who expressed sympathy with his family on his sudden death.

“It is with great sadness and disbelief that we learn of the sudden and untimely death of Shane Heraty, Rockfield, former road bowler and club member. Son of Johnny and Noreen Heraty, also former club stalwart’s,” the club wrote on its Facebook page.

Shane is survived by his wife Katie, nee Hayes, a native of Ballintubber and his two children, daughter, Laoise and son Seamus; parents, Johnny and Noreen and sisters, Nicky and Karen.

Shane will repose in Aughagower Community Centre this Sunday evening from 4pm to 6pm with Requiem Mass on Monday in St Patrick’s Church, Aughagower at 12 noon with burial afterwards in adjoining Cemetery.
