A church steeped in House of Alba history was the scene for the 4th Duke of Arjona’s wedding to his partner of almost a decade. The 62-year-old groom, a former Olympic equestrian, arrived in a dashing Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla uniform, accompanied by his daughter Amina. Bárbara, 29, followed in a horse-drawn carriage, wearing a Navascués gown with a dramatic trailing veil and – a previous gift from her future husband – art deco-inspired earrings.

Venice was the setting for the so-called ‘wedding of the century’ when tech billionaire Jeff Bezos and former journalist Lauren Sánchez staged three days of celebrations. These started with a party at the 14th-century Madonna dell’Orto church, where a thunderstorm cast operatic drama over a guestlist that read like a global power index. (Queen Rania of Jordan, Bill Gates, Orlando Bloom, Kendall and Kylie Jenner were all ferried along the Grand Canal.) It was like ‘the Met Gala on water’, quipped one reporter. And Sánchez set the style agenda. She stepped out of the Aman hotel in Dior, McQueen and Schiaparelli before exchanging vows – in a Dolce & Gabbana couture gown – with Bezos in an amphitheatre on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
