Ireland striker Troy Parrott had an eventful afternoon on Sunday, with the 24-year old at the centre of some early drama in AZ Alkmaar’s draw at Feyenoord.
Taking on the team who sit second in the Eredivisie table, AZ Alkmaar were hoping for a positive result in order to build momentum at the end of what has been a mixed league campaign. While they did have a KNVB Cup triumph last month, they have been somewhat underwhelming in league play and sat sixth coming into this game.
They would go on to secure a 1-1 draw against Feyenoord, with Troy Parrott very much at the heart of the action.

Troy Parrott has mad start to Dutch league game
Troy Parrott would be at the centre of a bizarre start to this fixture.
The Irishman found the back of the net just 12 seconds into the game thanks to a bad error from the Feyenoord goalkeeper, although that goal would be ruled out for offside.

Just when the home side thought they had gotten away with that early scare, Parrott would go on to produce a brilliant chip finish moments later to score for a second time. This goal stood.

A cracking finish.
Parrott was perhaps unfortunate not to be given a penalty later in the half, which would have given AZ Alkmaar the opportunity to double their lead.

Feyenoord went on to level the content in the second half, with the game finishing in a 1-1 draw.
AZ Alkmaar sit in sixth place in the league, although they have already secured European football for next season as a result of their KNVB Cup victory.
This strike from Troy Parrott was his 31st of the club season, also registering 11 assists. It is widely expected this will be the player’s final campaign at AZ, with a couple of Premier League sides the latest to be credited with an interest in his services this summer.
