British acquisition for Limerick-based chemical solutions provider

A CHEMICAL solutions provider with bases in Foynes and Shannon has acquired a British firm.

Chemical Solutions Group has bought distribution specialist Resource Chemicals, based at the town of Brackley in Northamptonshire, just south of the English midlands.

It forms part of Chemical Solutions Group’s broader plan to develop a stronger platform in Britain.

It’s aiming for its acquisitions to improve its supply resilience, technical capability and customer services across industrial, water and environmental markets.

It’s Chemical Solutions Group’s second cross-channel investment, with the firm already supporting its sister company, GI Chemical Solution at its base in Immingham at Lincolnshire on England’s east coast.

It’s buying up firms in this country too.

In January, it announced its intention to acquire Celtic Water Care Solutions, a Cork-based wastewater and effluent treatment chemicals specialist serving private-sector customers across Ireland.

The deal is pending merger control clearance by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, the State body that protects consumers and makes sure businesses compete fairly.

Kevin Quinn, the chief executive of Chemical Solutions Group said: “In 2025 we launched a distribution hub in Britain specialising in bulk chemicals, namely caustic, through our GI Chemicals brand. This was always a first step, and our long-term ambition is to build a meaningful presence in Britain and to continue to expand across Ireland, offering customers a full suite of services and products.”

Chemical Solutions Group believes the acquisition will create a stronger proposition for customers by combining local market knowledge and technical service with greater scale, purchasing strength and continuity of supply.

It confirmed that the acquisition will have no impact on current customers or distributors.

Mr Quinn added: “Customers will benefit from a stronger, more resilient partner and a business committed to long-term market development and competitiveness. As a complete service provider with a significant footprint, customers will also gain access to the full range of group capabilities, including research, safety, health, environment quality and leadership”
