Staff shaken – they hope to re-open on Monday

One of Cork’s busiest Credit Unions was forced to close yesterday after a robbery of cash, which Gardai are now investigating.
The Togher branch of the Lough Credit Union would normally be open and busy on a Saturday morning. But a robbery there yesterday which left staff shaken prompted branch bosses to close until Monday morning, with apologies to members.
CorkBeo understands that a man entered the Togher Branch on the busy Togher Road just before 11.30am yesterday and threatened staff before making off with a sum of money.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attended the scene of a robbery at a financial premises in Togher, Co. Cork. At approximately 11:30am Friday 15th May 2026.
A sum of cash were reported taken. Investigations are ongoing.”
