Our tipster’s got five shouts for Sunday’s St James’ showdown.

The biggest Premier League game on Sunday takes place at St James’ Park. West Ham travel to Newcastle at 5:30pm with the opportunity to move out of the bottom three.

Tottenham will have a game in hand, but as the Hammers are odds-on to go down as things stand, they must win and worry about what Spurs do later.
With Newcastle having nothing more than pride on the line, West Ham may have a better chance to claim three points than they otherwise would. Here’s PP tipster Andrew Beasley‘s preview with five selections you can combine in a Bet Builder.

Andrew’s got one player pick in here, which is covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, meaning if the player is substituted, the bet carries over to his replacement. Let’s get his Newcastle v West Ham picks.

Newcastle to win

The Magpies have taken four points from their previous two matches, having lost four straight before that. This is also their final home game, so while they’re marooned in midtable, they’ll want to sign off in style.

Much will likely depend on if they can see the game out. Newcastle dropped two points at Nottingham Forest last weekend through an 88th-minute goal. Bournemouth recently won at St James’ Park by scoring in the 85th, while Brian Brobbey’s 90th-minute winner for Sunderland was worse on every conceivable level.

As disappointing as this is for Eddie Howe, his side’s last six home games include wins over Manchester United and Brighton, plus a draw with La Liga champions Barcelona. Which would also have been a victory were it not for a very late goal, obviously.

West Ham’s record suggests they have a chance here, thanks to Newcastle’s place in the league table. Every victory the Hammers have enjoyed this season has come against teams that start this weekend in the bottom half. This includes winning the reverse fixture 3-1 in November, too. The data for this season says the home side has been far better than their results and should be a much shorter price to win here, though. Sorry, Hammers fans – Newcastle to win.

Over 2.5 goals

Whatever the outcome, this should be entertaining. Four of the previous six meetings saw at least four goals. The game in the north east two seasons ago saw West Ham come from behind to lead 3-1 before losing 4-3. There was also a red card. More of that on Sunday, please.

These teams have had similar records this season, too. There have been at least three goals in 23 of Newcastle’s 36 league matches in 2025/26, the joint-most in the division. The hit rate at home has been even higher, with 14 examples from 18 games. As 21 of West Ham’s matches have paid out on Over 2.5 goals, pairing them with the Magpies should see this game go the same way.

Sandro Tonali to score or assist

Only four teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than West Ham this season. Just two have underachieved against their expected goals by a wider margin than Newcastle. It does not make picking a goal scorer easy.

When there’s no obvious choice, lean on the data. Sandro Tonali has yet to score in the league this season despite amassing 1.74 expected goals. The Italian has set up three big chances across Newcastle’s last three home games, too. Back Tonali in the To Score Or Assist market.

Over 10.5 corners

The first corner of this game will be the 400th in a Premier League match featuring West Ham this season. A banner should come down from the roof or something. The Hammers enter the weekend having seen an average of 11.1 corners per game in 2025/26, the most in the top flight. Second in those standings? A certain Newcastle United. You might have heard of them. This match-up is a combination that makes Over 10.5 Corners look a certainty.

West Ham 1+ cards in each half

The card count is tougher to predict. The last four meetings saw a total of just seven yellows. Referee Jarred Gillett is at the lower end of Premier League officials for bookings, too.

It seems likely West Ham will pick up more cards than Newcastle, given they’ve got to fight for a result with everything they’ve got. The best value option looks to be selecting 1+ in the market for Away Cards in Each Half. It happened last week against Arsenal as well as in matches in the last few months against Liverpool, Fulham, and Wolves. Even in the ones that didn’t, the Hammers usually picked up a booking in the second half. We just need one in the first, and we’re laughing.
