Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses to last Saturday’s fatal Donegal crash, with anyone who was at the scene and has not yet spoken to Gardaí urged to come forward.

Two young men, Caoilan Bushe, 30, from Letterbarrow, near Donegal Town, and Leon Shovlin, 27, from Ardara, both died at the scene of a collision on the main N15 Donegal-Ballybofey road on Saturday afternoon.

The Funeral Mass for the late Mr Bushe will be held on Wednesday.

Funeral arrangements will be released later for Mr Shovlin.

Both men were travelling in the same vehicle when it was involved in the collision between Barnesmore and Donegal Town.

Two other occupants of the same vehicle, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 20s, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two people in the second vehicle, a man and a woman in their 40s, were also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal today to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 1:30pm and 2:30pm on 16th May are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anybody who was at the scene who has not yet spoken with Gardaí is asked to make contact,” a spokesperson said.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Donegal Town Garda Station on 074 974 0190, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

Six people lost their lives on roads across the island of Ireland during a devastating 48 hours last weekend.

Also in Donegal, a young man in his 20s, who is believed to have been from Derry, died following a crash in Inishowen on Saturday night.

The man was critically injured in a single-vehicle collision on the R238 at Ardmore, Muff. He later died at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
