Investigation launched following the discovery of a man’s body in Buncrana

Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body at a residence in Buncrana.

Officers were alerted to the scene at approximately 8.20am this morning, Tuesday, after the body of a man, aged in his 40s, was discovered at the property. The scene is currently preserved.

The body remains at the scene at this time, as Garda forensic and technical examinations are carried out.

Gardaí said the area has been preserved for a full technical examination as inquiries continue into all the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination to take place.

Gardaí said the results of the post-mortem will determine the direction of the investigation. No further details have been released at this time and investigations remain ongoing.
