Forecasts have predicted that Ireland’s warmest day in quite a while is coming this week, with generally dry and settled conditions persisting into next week too

Ireland looks set for the hottest day of the year so far this week, with temperatures predicted to reach the mid-20s.
Met Eireann is forecasting highs of 22 degrees on Sunday, with the positive outlook continuing as long range weather models indicate that settled conditions could potentially persist well into June.
High pressure looks set to dominate into early next week with generally dry and settled conditions persisting and daytime highs potentially reaching the mid-twenties in places, said the national forecaster. Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel added that a “taste of summer” is happening this week.
However for the time being, cloudy conditions remain with outbreaks of rain, with things predicted to lighten up as the week goes along.
“Wednesday it’s a drier brighter day better conditions overall mostly dry but rain will spread into the southwest later on in the late evening into the early night which sets us up for a rather overcast muggy day on Thursday with the possibility of some heavy showery rain in parts of the west and southwest,” said a new forecast on Ireland’s Weather Channel.
“On Friday similar picture still overcast very humid drier overall but still the risk of one or two heavy thundery downpours pushing up from the south.” However, the weekend is set for sun.
“Into the weekend, and especially so by the time we get to Sunday, we are going to see high pressure becoming more of a dominant feature, or winds going into a light east or south-easterly direction, feeding in very warm air from the near continent so that by Sunday, temperatures could well be up into the mid-20s and similarly so for the start of next week with high pressure looking firmly in control. It looks as though a taste of summer is very much on the cards for us this weekend and certainly into the start of the next week as well.”

Wednesday
Sunny spells and light showers give way to thickening cloud and rain from the southwest by evening. It will remain mild overnight with patchier rain, mist, and coastal fog as temperatures stay around 11 to 13 degrees after daytime highs of 14 to 18 degrees.
Thursday
A misty, drizzly morning precedes a band of heavier afternoon rain tracking north, followed by clearing conditions and hazy sunshine from the south. Expect highs of 14 to 19 degrees, dropping to 11 to 13 degrees overnight as patchy rain and mist move eastward.
Friday
Early cloud, drizzle, and mist will break up during the afternoon to reveal sunny spells and isolated showers, with temperatures reaching 14 to 20 degrees. It will turn largely dry overnight with clear breaks and patches of fog, staying around 9 to 12 degrees.
Saturday
High pressure begins to dominate, bringing a mostly dry and warm day with fine sunny spells for most regions and top temperatures ranging from 17 to 21 degrees.
Sunday
The weekend finishes warm and sunny for most with highs of 18 to 22 degrees, though coastal mist may linger in parts and the northwest could see thicker cloud with patchy drizzle.
