Prince William gave a rare radio interview this morning, and spoke about his wife Kate Middleton’s cancer journey. “She’s an amazing mum, an amazing wife, and, literally, our family couldn’t cope without her, so, she’s been absolutely stunning, brilliant,” he said on Heart Breakfast.
He said he was “so proud, very, very proud” about her recent trip to Reggio Emilia, Italy—her first overseas trip since her cancer diagnosis. “She’s been amazing. She’s been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly. And yeah, she’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot. And so I’m really glad it went really well,” the Prince of Wales said. “She wanted to go and do lots of research.”
He continued, “She spends god knows how much time now, looking through all the paperwork. She’s a proper pro on early years. Most evenings I’m fighting to get past in the bedroom, what paperwork that she’s got lined up, ready to read. So, I’m so pleased it went well for her, and yeah, I think she came back buzzing.”
Prince William also noted that “away trips like that take a lot out of you” and added that “we have to balance that, make sure she’s okay and rested, but she’s in good form.”
In September 2024, Kate finished chemotherapy treatment, and in January 2025, the Princess of Wales shared she was officially in remission. “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Kate said in a personal message shared with a video of her and her family in Norfolk. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”
