Toddler injured by breaking glass after car attacked in broad daylight in Limerick

A TODDLER was injured by breaking glass after a car the small boy was in was attacked in broad daylight, Limerick Live has learned.

The shocking incident occurred in Carew Park, Southill on Sunday, May 10.

The story was first reported by Limerick Live in the days following the criminal damage on the vehicle. The article said that a woman, aged in her 30s, required medical attention after a car was attacked in a city housing estate.

It has now emerged, after follow-up enquiries, that a boy, believed to be three-years-old, was also in the car at the time and was injured by breaking glass.

There are unconfirmed reports that the vehicle’s windows were smashed by a number of perpetrators while the woman and child were barricaded inside the car.

Following a query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed that officers received a report of “an incident of criminal damage of a car that occurred in the Carew Park area of Limerick on Sunday, May 10”.

“A male child suffered non-life threatening injuries during the incident. No further updates are available. Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.

Witnesses are asked to come forward to assist investigating gardai with their enquiries.
