ALERT: Safety issue found with thousands of TVs across Ireland that could result in fires

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has alerted the public across Ireland to a safety issue that has been identified with the fuse within certain power plugs in a selected batch of NordMende Televisions and various Toshiba, Technika and Walker Televisions.

The product presents a fire risk because the fuse inside the supplied UK power plug may not operate correctly. If an electrical fault occurs, the fuse may fail to disconnect the power supply, allowing electricity to continue flowing into the TV, which could lead to overheating or fire.

The product safety issue relates to the mains plug fuse and not to the television unit itself.

There are approximately 189 affected Nordmende products and approximately 6206 affected Toshiba, Technika and Walker products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

Customers should stop using the product immediately, switch it off, and unplug it from the mains.
