September brought the announcement that Kate had completed her chemotherapy, and the Autumn months saw her make a series of highly personal engagements. A visit to Southport in October to meet with the families of those who lost their lives in July’s knife attacks was followed by an emotional embrace for fellow cancer patient, the late teenage photographer, Liz Hatton. The pair bonded over their health journeys, and Liz’s mother said that the Prince and Princess had been bastions of compassion up until her death.
In January 2025, Catherine announced that she was in remission. ‘It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,’ wrote the mother-of-three on the official social media account that she shares with Prince William. ‘As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.’
That year, which she kicked off with a tour of the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she had been receiving her chemotherapy treatment, would see Catherine open up about her diagnosis, continuing to support fellow patients to the best of her ability.
