Limerick-founded engineering firm PUNCH has been acquired in a major international deal.
PUNCH Consulting Engineers, which has been a part of Limerick’s business community for over half a century, has been acquired by the international engineering consulting group, COWI.
Founded in Limerick in 1973, PUNCH has grown from a local firm into one of Ireland’s largest homegrown engineering consultancies.
While PUNCH has expanded over the decades to establish offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Glasgow, and Macclesfield, its journey began 53 years ago in Limerick.
The firm is known for delivering civil, structural, environmental, and sustainability engineering services across the built environment.
The Limerick-born company is now joining forces with Denmark-headquartered COWI to tackle Ireland’s upcoming mega-infrastructure projects.
The move comes as the Irish government rolls out funding for the country’s green transition, including offshore wind and district heating.
