Senator Manus Boyle said GAA traditions are being lost if supporters cannot watch their county in championship action.
It’s been confirmed that Donegal’s All-Ireland SFC Round 2A clash with Cork will not be shown live on either RTÉ or GAA+.
Senator Boyle said the decision was “difficult to understand”, particularly as all other games in the Round 2A group are being broadcast.
While Kildare v Kerry and Cavan v Dublin are also not being shown live, Senator Boyle said Donegal supporters had still been left badly served by the broadcast arrangements.
The stand-out Kerry-Donegal game was also behind the GAA+ paywall last month.
“For many supporters, especially older fans, families, and the Donegal diaspora spread across Ireland and the world, attending in person is simply not possible,” said Senator Boyle.
“Television and streaming coverage are often the only way they can follow their county.”
Senator Boyle said the GAA has always prided itself on community, inclusion and keeping supporters connected to their teams.
