The Pope commenced his six-day papal visit to Spain over the weekend, including multiple events with the Spanish royal family. On Saturday, he received an official welcome from the royals upon his arrival in Madrid, then on Sunday, King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and their daughters Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia joined him for a mass marking the feast of Corpus Christi.
On both of occasions, the Spanish queen chose brilliant white ensembles—a nod toward the fact that she is one of a mere handful of royal women allowed to appear before the pope in the color, rather than traditional black. While she chose a white lace dress by The 2nd Skin Co. for Pope Leo’s initial welcome, for the royals’ second event with the pope, Letizia opted for a brand with a trusted royal pedigree.
For the mass, Letizia donned a white dress by Kate Middleton’s go-to brand, Self-Portrait. The style featured structured short sleeves, with a button front bodice and utility-inspired pockets, belted at the waist, with a midi-length taffeta skirt. Indeed, the style was reminiscent of a similar silhouette worn by Kate at last year’s Wimbledon. Letizia rounded out her look with neutral, kitten heel slingbacks and pearl drop earrings.

While Princesses Leonor and Sofia wore black to Pope Leo’s welcome event, on Sunday, the duo chose pastel looks, with Leonor selecting a forget-me-not blue dress and Sofia opting for a mint green suit set.
Leo’s nearly week-long visit to Spain not only marks the first time in more than a decade that the country has hosted a papal visit, it will also offer a historic moment as the Pope gives the inaugural mass at Sagrada Família since the placement of the basilica’s final tower. The mass is set to take place on June 10, marking the centennial of the death of the church’s iconic architect, Antoni Gaudi.
