(WJAR) — A statue honoring renowned Rhode Island runner Ellison “Tarzan” Brown will have a dedication ceremony this Saturday in Westerly.

According to the Tarzan Brown Memorial Fund, the statue is located at Rooney Park.

Brown, a runner of Narragansett Indian descent, won the Boston Marathon in 1936 and 1939, and also represented the United States in the 1936 Summer Olympics.

At the event at 11 a.m., multiple Boston Marathon champions will speak in tribute to Brown, officials said.
