Louth GAA have hit out after ‘property damage’ at their new stadium in Dundalk.
It’s believed the damage was caused over the weekend at the Marshes Upper, Inner Relief Road venue.
The new county ground will have a 14,000-seat capacity when completed. Louth GAA hope to have phase one completed later this year, by which time the ground will be open for business and ready to host 6,000 spectators.
Louth county board have appealed for witnesses after the act of vandalism.
“There was some property damage carried out at our new stadium in Dundalk over the weekend,” said Louth GAA.
“We would ask everyone who lives in or is in the vicinity of the stadium to please keep an eye out. If you see anyone on the site or notice any suspicious activity, please report it to Louth GAA immediately.
“Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in helping to protect our facilities.”
The €24m project with Ganson Group will provide an initial 6,000-capacity, modern, and fully operational venue for county teams and the community.

The cost is more than double the initial €12m forecast. A total of €18m was secured to fund the project and Louth are relying on funding from Croke Park to make up at least some of the €7m shortfall.
The entire construction period is expected to last approximately 16 months, with the stadium ready to host games with an initial capacity of approximately 6,000 spectators upon completion of Phase One.
That initial phase includes the south seated stand (4080 seats), a full-size playing pitch built to the highest standards, modern floodlighting, east and west standing sections behind both goals, car parking and auxiliary building for essential facilities.
Development of phase two will commence as funding allows, featuring the north standing terrace, which will further enhance the stadium’s capacity and facilities.
