Love Island contestant Victoria Onanusi has said she is “really sad” to leave the villa after a shock dumping saw her leave the reality show.

The 25-year-old and her partner, Ope Sowande, were told to leave the villa on Friday night after they were voted the weakest couple among their fellow islanders.

Their exit followed a dramatic game of truth or dare, which saw the contestants turn on each other, as Sowande grew frustrated with business owner Jasmine Muller when she accused him of entering the villa for fame.

The dancer, 27, was later accused by Onanusi of being “a bit of a liar” when asked about his possible “red flags”, while other islanders were asked raunchy questions.

The game concluded after Sowande and Onanusi were ranked as the weakest couple, as the group then received a surprise text telling them they had to leave the villa.

Onanusi joined the show on Sunday night as a bombshell alongside council worker Namibia Olpherts, and has only had five days in the villa.

The personal assistant, from Kildare in Ireland, said she was “really sad” to leave as she was starting to form a connection with electrician Sam Workman.

Reflecting on the unfinished business between them, she said: “Sam and I left things open between us, of course, as he’s still in there.

“If he doesn’t find his person we’ll definitely meet up on the outside.”

Onanusi added that her time on the show was “short but bittersweet”, and said it was “unlucky” that her connection with Sowande “fizzled out”.

“These things happen,” she added.

Sowande said he is “super proud of myself” for his time on the show, adding: “I would describe the experience as life-changing, so exciting, fun, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“There are only a handful of people who will ever understand being in there.”

He said that appearing on Love Island is “genuinely the best thing I’ve ever done” but that he wishes he had “gotten a bit further” beyond his two weeks in the villa.

Sowande added: “It feels really alien to leave Love Island. I feel like I’ve been there for such a long time. One day there is a week.

“You grow such big connections with people, so I’m really sad to have left.”
