A physically powerful Fermanagh side blew away the challenge of a tepid Sligo outfit in Enniskillen.

The winners were on top in all departments with Shane McGullion and Mattie McDermott grabbing goals in each half.

Their reward is a second consecutive appearance in a Tailteann Cup semi-final in Croke Park next weekend.

Ultan Kelm was back to his best in a fine team display as hapless Sligo missed a penalty when Erne keeper Sean McNally made a superb double save from Niall Murphy.

The winners were well worth their half-time lead of 1-12 to 0-05 and added 1-13 in an equally one-sided second half.

Sligo opened brightly with a well-struck point from Alan McLoughlin after just 90 seconds.

Fermanagh had a half chance of a goal, but Conor O’Hanlon’s shot was smothered.

But it was the Yeats men who were in the ascendancy as Lee Deignan sold an exquisite dummy before arcing over a delightful point.

Mattie McDermott and Garvan Jones levelled matters through two frees.

But McLoughlin regained the lead for the visitors as Shane McGullion equalised for Fermanagh with a point from the outside of the boot.

The jinking Conor Love then equalised for Fermanagh as the Erne men took over for the rest of the half.

Their dominance began with a well-converted two-pointer from Sean McNally before Shane McGullion ended a cracking move started by Jonny Cassidy with a low shot to the Sligo net.

Suddenly Fermanagh were leading by 1-07 to 0-04 and Ultan Kelm and Jones tagged on two more points by the 28th minute.

Jones added another point and Conor Hanlon hoofed over a two-pointer before Sligo’s response from Lee Deignan left the home side leading by 1-11 to 0-05.

Josh Largo Ellis finished the half with a point as Fermanagh led by 1-12 to 0-05 at the break

Ultan Kelm hit two points on the restart and Niall Murphy responded in kind with a one-pointer.

Sligo were then awarded a penalty but Erne keeper Sean McNally made a brilliant double save from Niall Murphy.

But the game was well over, even by that stage.

Jones, Love and team captain Ronan McCaffrey hit three swift points on the bounce as the home side led by 1-17 to 0-07.

McDermott and Love added further points as McDermott found the net ten minutes from time to put his team in front by 2-21 to 0-07.

McDermott, and subs Ciaran Corrigan, Aogan Kelm and Sean Cassidy were all on target for the winners as Sligo replied with a late two-pointer from David Quinn.
