An Annacotty native is trading the science lab for the national stage as she prepares to represent Limerick at the Miss Universe Ireland grand final next weekend.
Leah Sheehan, who has just graduated with a degree in biochemistry, will join finalists from across the country at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin on Saturday, June 20th.
The high-profile event will see contestants compete for the national crown and the opportunity to represent Ireland on the global stage.
The road to the crown involves multiple competitive segments designed to test the finalists’ confidence, presentation, and communication skills.
Finalists must impress a panel of industry professionals across three distinct categories: the swimsuit competition, the evening gown round, and an interview segment.
The grand final will feature a staged elimination process.
During the show, the top ten contestants will be revealed alongside their scores from the preliminary rounds.
The field will then be narrowed down to the final five before the overall winner of Miss Universe Ireland 2026 is officially crowned.
The winner will follow in the footsteps of several well-known previous titleholders, including Roz Purcell, Joanna Cooper, Dancing with the Stars alum Aishah Akorede, Sofia Labus, and Aasya Srivastava.
