A final agreement to end the war has not yet been reached, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said in a post on X – despite Donald Trump celebrating the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran.
“What has been agreed upon is an important step towards stopping the war and starting negotiations,” Iran’s president said.
Pezeshkian added that while Iran “has prepared itself for all options,” it has learned “not to submit to humiliation”.
In a separate post, he said: “The memorandum of understanding that has been developed is the result of months of continuous dialogue.”
Pezeshkian said the memorandum was a “document of pride” for Iran, and insisted Iran had prepared “for all options” despite the tentative agreement.
Trump says the deal will be signed on Friday, starting a 60-day period of more negotations – including on the future of Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
